Fukuoka City Urban Expressway

Construction on the Fukuoka City Urban Expressway is getting closer to being done. If you look at these pictures you can see how close they are to finishing. The first picture was taken while I sat in my car. The second was taken in about the same position but I took it using the driver side mirror.
I think I remember them saying it will be completed in 2011, but don’t quote me on that. All I know is that they have really made some serious progress over the last 6 months.
Himeshima, Fukuoka 姫島

A 16 minute ferry ride off the coast of Itoshima gets you to a little fishing village on Himeshima (Hime Island).

A nice little climbing wall to practice on.
Nice are for a little skateboarding.

Practice a little Tennis.
This is only one little corner of a really big sports park. It’s located near Fukuoka airport and is best accessed by car. There are a good amount of free parking spots but it can fill up on nice days.

Best source of transportation during Hanami is either on foot or by bicycle!
Now someone is really ready to have a major Hanami Party!!
Fukuoka City Picture from the West
Mar 26th
Took this picture from a hill top on the west side of the city. You can also see some cherry blossoms. You can also see the elevated urban expressway. It costs 600 Yen from most spots and 750 Yen at one entry. Expensive but well worth it if you are trying to save some time!
